Board of Trustees

Community Music Wales has a Board of Trustees who meet quarterly and are responsible for the strategic direction and policy of the charity. The members are from a variety of professional backgrounds relevant to the work of the charity. An observer from the Arts Council of Wales also sits on the Board but has no voting rights.

The Executive Officer of the Board of Trustees is the Director who is responsible for the effective management and strategic development of Community Music Wales in accordance with its constitution and aims and objectives.

 

Chair:  Simon Groves

Simon is Experiential Manager for Atradius – a credit insurance and management company based in Cardiff Bay. He is also heavily involved with music in his spare time and plays gigs across the country with his band Roosevelt. Simon was recently was nominated for Arts & Business Cymru’s ‘Individual of the Year’ award.

Vice Chair: Dr. Judith Anderson

Judith has a background in Education and has studied for a Diploma in Counselling. She has been heavily involved with the delivery of Open College Network (now Agored Cymru) Accreditation, which has played a huge role in the work of CMW. Judith also has a personal interest in music as she presents a weekly radio show for Rookwood Hospital.

Lisa Davies

Lisa currently works as Project Manager for Spice, where she is developing a pilot timebanking project based in schools. She was previously the Director of Zoom Cymru, so has experience of working in charity management. She is also an associate director at the Actors Workshop, consulting on marketing and youth activity.  

Paul Gray

Paul Gray has over 34 years of experience as a professional rock musician on an international level, joining his first band, Eddie & the Hot Rods, aged 16. In 1980 he joined punk heroes The Damned, and subsequently stadium rockers UFO. Paul currently works with the Musicians’ Union, advising and assisting 30,000 members in all aspects of their careers in the music industry, with a particular remit for dealing with live, copyright and contracts. He is also responsible for all MU learning events.

Dorothy James

Dorothy currently works as a freelance arts administration consultant. Her role includes all aspects of policy-making, best practice and administration within an arts setting. She has had a long career working with a huge variety of arts organisations Wales wide including dance, theatre and music. She has worked with organisations such as Hjinx and the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.
