  • foyer

Over the past few months, Community Music Wales has been working in partnership with Wrexham’s homeless shelter charity ‘The Foyer‘,  delivering a multi arts project to homeless service users.

As part of this Arts Council Lottery funded project, participants have had the opportunity to explore different artistic expressions, working towards a one off public performance and showing. Workshops include music, dance, film and percussion with the aim of the project being to raise basics skills as well as confidence, motivation and group work in a relaxed and friendly environment.

The workshops are all accredited and participants are working with trained tutors who will guide them into creating a short film, a dance or a percussion routine.

Gethin Evans, CMW’s Project Officer in North Wales said

‘‘We are delighted to be supporting one of The Foyer’s main objectives through this project. This is to facilitate the re-introduction of residents into employment, training and / or education. The project aims to motivate and give confidence to participants in achieving this goal, whilst being accredited in a relaxed, informal learning setting.’’

Over the coming weeks participants will be toiling away on dance routines, percussion patterns, musical scores and filming. The results will be showcased at a final performance to be held at the Central Station venue in Wrexham. The date for this will be confirmed soon.
