Complete Control Music in Llanhilleth Institute
Earlier this Summer, CMW’s
‘Complete Control Music’ department gave 4 budding young musicians the chance
to experience the production process of a gig.
First and foremost, the
participants had to showcase their social skills, as they had never met each
other before the event. They soon got to know each other, as they had a couple
of hours to emulate a gig in Llanhilleth Institute.
They began with tuning all the
instruments (including the tricky process of drum tuning!) and preparing the
stage to obtain a balanced sound and minimise any feedback.
They then got the chance to
operate front-of-house mixers and control the stage sound. They were also shown
how to record a live performance.
After all this hard work, the
guys got on the other side of the industry and performed their original
material in-front of ‘Complete Control Music’ and Llanhilleth Institute
staff.
By the end of the afternoon, the
participants left with boasted confidence ready for any potential performances
in the future. Whether they are behind the scenes or rocking the stage, CCM
aims to provide them with a foundation for the future.
The Complete Control Music scheme
is part of Reach the
Heights and is part funded by the European
Social Fund. It works with 14-19 year old musicians that are not in
education, employment or training. It is a mentoring scheme which gives
practical advice on the music industry along with opportunities to promote and
develop their work, offering recording opportunities, possible releases, gigs,
support and advice.
