This Summer, Community Music Wales once again collaborated with Arts Active to produce a fantastic show in St Davids Hall. CMW and Arts Active have a long history of working together pioneering the first rock band workshop format in Wales, over 18 years ago.

‘Musicmix ‘10’ brought together 30 talented young musicians to write 13 original songs inspired by life in the city. The 13 songs depicted 13 hours, a day in the Capital.

The youngsters worked in groups alongside professional musicians from CMW and Arts Active, each tutor with their own speciality. They worked on vocals, rock music, rapping and mc-ing and drumming.

The final performance saw the 30 youngsters form one large band to perform a lively and exciting orchestral rock gig.

Mollie Kneath, bass player and singer, said: “It was exciting working with a lot of new people. I really enjoy working with a small band, but this year I met a lot of new musicians and we all mingled and worked as one. It was a great concept too”.

The gig was well attended and a good time was had by all.
