Personal Empowerment For Women Through Creativity

  • volume

Community Music Wales (CMW) are launching a new music project in Denbighshire. The project is targeted at women over 16 years of age who are unemployed (excluding those on the Work Programme.)

Workshops will revolve around the composition of original music and creativity. Participants will take part in group, and individual music activities exploring various techniques and ideas.  Participants will also get the opportunity to record their compositions onto CD.

Trained and experienced CMW tutors will guide participants giving support as little or often as required depending on previous musical experience.

The project is part of Engagement Gateway funded by Wales Council for Voluntary Action [WCVA]. Engagement Gateway aims to help people back into employment or learning through a range of activities giving participants new practical skills and more personal achivements such as increasing confidence.

Previous Community Music Wales participants, Bangor girl band ‘Volume’ said:

“The Community Music Wales scheme has been great, as well as learning the skills to play instruments, and write songs, we’ve also been able to record one of our songs onto CD”.

CMW is Wales’s leading music charity. We believe everyone should have access to music. Music can be educational, informative and empowering, but it should always be enjoyed. Creative music making is central to CMW and its objectives.

If you are an unemployed Woman over the age of 16 resident in the county of Denbighshire and you want to take part in FREE music and composing workshops or you just want to try something new and fun, please contact the Community Music Wales office in Caernarfon for more information!

Absolute beginners are welcome!
