Training
Since its inception CMW has striven to ensure a high standard of delivery and of sharing best practice. CMW believes that music can impact the lives of even the hardest to reach individuals and can have a hugely positive effect if delivered in a sensitive and client centred way. If not, it can be potentially damaging to vulnerable participants through damaging confidence and increasing social exclusion. The aim of CMW is not the end product of a musical piece but the journey to get there. This often has more impact than the end product as along the way the participants can increase in confidence, levels of basic skills, community cohesion, strengthen community ties as well as develop practical skills.
CMW's Training schemes aim to increase the skills of musicians who want to become self-employed community music tutors, those with music skills, who work with disadvantaged groups or who would like to incorporate music into the work of their organisation, those with music skills who would like to use those skills in a community setting and individual Music teachers/tutors who would like to work with groups. Increasing these skills will ensure higher quality music delivery and more effective intervention.
CMW has been running training since 1992. CMW has had a huge success rate with over 500 people going through the course.
Our Training Programme has a number of elements, and can be adapted to fit a wide range of development needs. We currently run:
· Community Music in the Workplace (two day course)
· Community Music Tutor Training Course (part time over 1 year)
· Community Music - Making Music Work (seminars for organisations)
